Monthly Beach Cleanup

Morningside Park

On December 13th, 2020, SeaKeepers hosted a park and kayak cleanup at Morningside Park. We had a great turnout of 47 people, including many members of NMB Volleyball! Collectively, we removed 137 lbs of trash from the area, including an alarming 778 plastic straws.

The day before, another group cleaned a different part of the park and removed 757 plastic straws. That means we removed 1535 straws from one park in one weekend! This cleanup marks the end of our 2020 cleanups, and we are proud to have removed 2233 lbs of trash from beaches in Miami this year. Our running total of trash removed since 2019 is now 3325 lbs!
