Monthly Beach Cleanup

Overview

On Sunday, April 10, 2022, SeaKeepers hosted a cleanup at Morningside Park with our partners at Awareness Into Action for a restorative yoga class. The first cleanup of April brought in 38 volunteers that collected over 170 pounds of trash out of the mangroves, off of the rocks, and out of the picnic islands in Biscayne Bay. Additionally, students in attendance utilized the CleanSwell app and contributed to a trash database that can be used for advocacy. This cleanup saw a large number of passersby taking interest in what we were all doing and stopped to contribute to the cleanup. Volunteers stayed even longer than we did to continue their kayak and paddle board cleanups long after noon.

Thank you to our long-time partner, Awareness Into Action, for their collaboration in providing free yoga lessons to our volunteers and their support in our monthly park cleanups at Morningside Park. We enjoy hosting these cleanups for our loyal volunteer base and sharing this mission of eco-consciousness and activism with valued partners.
