Monthly Beach Cleanup
Key Biscayne, Florida
February 2020
On February 2nd, 2020, SeaKeepers hosted it’s monthly beach cleanup on Key Biscayne. 51 volunteers attended and removed 145 pounds of trash from the beach! Most of the garbage found was cigarette butts, plastic and foam pieces, plastic bottle caps, food wrappers, glass bottles, and plastic bottles. The cleanup findings were documented on The Ocean Conservancy’s application “Clean Swell” where it then goes into the world’s largest ocean trash dataset. The data helps researchers and policy makers identify trends and create solutions. With this cleanup, SeaKeepers has officially removed 1,165 pounds of trash from this beach since June! We look forward to expanding our partnerships with local schools and businesses to conserve our local beaches and waters. Thank you to all of our volunteers!
