Morningside Park and Paddle Cleanup

On January 24th, 39 volunteers joined SeaKeepers to clean the park, mangroves and waterways around Morningside Park! Between those on land and those paddling, we collected 207 lbs of trash. Paddlers focused on a small island off the park that was completely covered in trash, and several made multiple trips to fill as many bags as possible. Those on land found all sorts of trash, large and small, hidden among the mangroves and rocks. All the trash was removed, and volunteers logged their findings through Clean Swell, an app developed by the Ocean Conservancy to track marine debris. At the end of the day, we had completely filled 20 bags with marine debris.
