In December 2021, Program Director Tony Gilbert was invited by the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in Houston to participate in a panel entitled "Ocean Resilience: Monitoring, Mitigation and Adaptation" aboard the Norwegian tall ship, Statsraad Lemkuhl docked in Miami, FL.

The ship is currently circumnavigating the globe as a research vessel for One Ocean Expedition, a project that unites researchers and students for ocean conservation. Tony Gilbert represented SeaKeepers alongside 4 other panelists: Arne Hestnes, Senior Architect for Kongsberg Maritime; Dr. Jan Erik Stiansen, Head of Research for the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research (IMR); Dr. Lisa Beal, Professor at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences; and Bjørn Arvid Sætren, Digital Director for IMR. The panel discussed what monitoring efforts are needed in order to preserve our oceans, and how yachts and citizen science may play an important role. The panel emphasized a need for cooperation across countries and collaboration across institutions, non-governmental organizations, and the general public.
