Presenting at the International Conference on Oceanography and Marine Biology

Overview

From September 9-10, 2024, The International SeaKeepers Society participated as an exhibitor at the joint International Conference on Oceanography and Marine Biology and International Conference on Aquaculture and Fisheries. SeaKeepers’ Science Liaison, Katie Sheahan, hosted a booth, distributing informational materials—including fliers, postcards, and business cards—to around 30 attendees from the global marine science and aquaculture communities.

Katie also delivered a one-hour presentation showcasing SeaKeepers’ programming, with a focus on key initiatives such as Scientist-Led Expeditions, Citizen Science, Education, and Community Outreach. Given the international scope of the event, she highlighted SeaKeepers' global chapters and the Green Marine Program to further engage the diverse audience.

Throughout the two-day conference, presentations from academic leaders showcased the latest research and innovations across marine science and aquaculture. Although smaller than some past conferences, the intimate setting facilitated deep engagement and meaningful connections with attendees. This conference fostered promising connections, laying the groundwork for future collaborations.
