SeaKeepers visit ICON Yachts

Overview

Chairman Jay Wade and Gill Rodrigues, Director of International Relations visited ICON Yachts at their shipyard in Harlingen, The Netherlands earlier this month. ICON Yachts is a Dutch shipyard at the forefront of sustainability in yachting through their Explorer Yachts and Conversions projects. We took the opportunity to discuss the scientific capabilities of their vessels and the concept of 'Responsible Yachting’ and its role in promoting ocean conservation while highlighting contributions to scientific research. We looked at industry trends and how the yachting sector is moving more towards explorer yachts and the increasing significance of experiential yachting. The day culminated with a tour of the 70-metre Explorer Yacht ProjectMASTER. This vessel will have a range of 6000+ nautical miles which will enable her to explore the most remote areas of the planet.
