Spooky Cleanup with Miami Waterkeeper and Veza Sur Brewing co.

Overview

On Friday, October 27th, The International SeaKeepers Society partnered with Miami Waterkeeper and Veza Sur Brewing Co. to host a Spooky Cleanup in Wynwood. Our volunteers showed up in costume and met us at Veza Sur Brewing Co. to check in and redeem their free drink before we headed out to collect trash. After a safety briefing, we sent our volunteers off to collect as much garbage from the neighborhood as they could in one hour. Our volunteers returned with buckets on buckets of trash, including items like plastic and glass bottles, food wrappers, bottle caps, and even some odd items like a car battery. Altogether, we removed 167.5 lbs of trash in just one hour. We finished the evening with a costume contest and gave prizes to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. We are so grateful to Miami Watekeeper and Veza Sur Brewing Co. for being great partners and to all of our volunteers for cleaning with us!
