Surf Skate Science World Reef Day Citizen Art & Eco Fest
Deerfield Beach, Florida
June 1, 2024
Overview
On Saturday, June 1, 2024, The International SeaKeepers Society participated in the eco-educational village at Surf Skate Science’s World Reef Day Citizen Art & Eco Fest. SeaKeepers joined several other local organizations such as the Surfrider Foundation, the University of Miami’s Shark Research & Conservation Program, and Broward County Sea Turtle Conservation Program in creating an eco-educational village on the sand next to the Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier. The event offered Deerfield Beach residents and visitors the opportunity to learn about local environmental organizations committed to ocean conservation and to participate in hands-on activities, art projects, and a beach cleanup. The event was attended by 121 people, allowing SeaKeepers to share our mission and encourage attendees to get involved in our Education Outreach, Community Engagement, Citizen Science, and DISCOVERY Yacht programming. We are grateful to Surf Skate Science for allowing us the opportunity to participate in celebrating World Reef Day!
