The Children's Trust Environmental Resiliency Youth Summit

Overview

On Saturday, September 28, 2024, The International SeaKeepers Society’s Education Outreach and Community Engagement teams attended the Environmental Resiliency Youth Summit at Florida International University hosted by The Children’s Trust’s Youth Advisory Committee. The event, hosted for Miami-Dade County middle and high school students, consisted of a film festival, panel discussion, interactive activities, and the opportunity to connect with local organizations. SeaKeepers’ Citizen Science Manager, Haley Davis, spoke on the Community Mobilization panel alongside The CLEO Project and ISeeChange to inform local students interested in environmental conservation about initiatives they can get involved in to improve the health of their communities. Education Manager, Toni Lohroff, and Community Engagement Associate, Lillian Engelhard, spent the day at a table advertising our Education Outreach and Community Engagement programs, and were delighted to interact with many middle and high school students with a passion for marine science that were interested in engaging with us. We are grateful to The Children’s Trust for including us in this event, and we look forward to taking the film festival winners on a snorkeling trip!
