The Little Lighthouse Foundation's Children's Halloween Party

Overview

On Saturday, October 19th, 2024, The International SeaKeepers Society’s Educational Outreach and Community Engagement teams attended The Little Lighthouse Foundation's Children's Halloween Party at Jungle Plaza in Miami's Design District. The event, hosted publicly for residents, consisted of a Halloween community fair complete with candy, games, and the opportunity to connect with organizations like SeaKeepers about local environmental conservation projects and educational opportunities. Education Manager, Toni Lohroff, and Educational Outreach Associate, Jack Rucker, spent the day at a table advertising our Educational Outreach and Community Engagement programs with some of our Halloween goodies like plastic-free chocolate from Equal Exchange and marine creature pumpkin carving templates inspired by work with our SeaKeepers' partner research scientists! By the end of the event, we were delighted to interact with over 300 local students and family members to inform them about our mission and free program offerings. We are grateful to The Little Lighthouse Foundation for including us in this event, and we look forward to working together more closely in the future!
