Women at the Wheel and Ocean Champions

Team Port & Starboard Partners with The International SeaKeepers Society for the Rebelle Rally

Fort Lauderdale, FL (USA) – July 2024 – Team Port & Starboard, skippered by Yacht Captains Lou Clark and Shelley Morton, is proud to announce their partnership with The International SeaKeepers Society (SeaKeepers) for the upcoming Rebelle Rally this October. They plan to spotlight SeaKeepers in a whole new market sector as well as hopefully donate their winnings to further the SeaKeepers' mission of facilitating oceanographic research through the support of their DISCOVERY Fleet.

The Rebelle Rally is the premier all-women's off-road navigation rally in the US. This grueling 2,500-kilometer (1,500nm) adventure across Nevada and California is a testament to female resilience and navigational expertise where technology is banned, and teamwork is paramount.

Team Port & Starboard aren’t just about competition - they're advocates for both the Rebelle Rally and SeaKeepers, as well the missions they represent.

Yacht Captains Lou Clark (Port) & Shelley Morton (Starboard), are enthusiastic advocates for both organizations. Captain Clark expressed her excitement:

"We share a love of adventure and a deep commitment to protecting our oceans. Shelley and I hope to bring the spirit of camaraderie, empowerment, and conservation from the sea, and return home with some new ideas from the desert."

Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders

Norma Trease, SeaKeepers Board Member, echoes their enthusiasm:

"Team Port & Starboard are breaking barriers in two traditionally male-dominated arenas (vessel operations & off-road racing) while highlighting the critical need for environmental conservation. We at SeaKeepers are honored to partner with them in inspiring future leaders and safeguarding our planet."

The International SeaKeepers Society is a non-profit that promotes oceanographic research, conservation, and education through direct involvement with the yachting community. Providing educational resources and hands-on marine science experiences to students is the primary focus for ensuring the future wellbeing of our planet. SeaKeepers enables the yachting community to take full advantage of their unique potential to advance marine sciences and raise awareness about global ocean issues.
