Singapore - September, 2024 – The third edition of The Ocean Collective Summit (TOCS) 2024 will be held on 17th and 18th October 2024 at the Sheraton Towers Hotel in Singapore. Organised by The International SeaKeepers Society (SeaKeepers) and The Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Centre, the annual summit brings together conservationists, business leaders, and policymakers to advance the shared objective of protecting the world’s oceans.
Themed “Uniting Businesses in Ocean Conservation”, TOCS 2024 will serve as a knowledge-sharing platform for industry leaders and change makers to discuss the emerging challenges and opportunities in the blue economy and marine conservation.
Notable speakers include Mr Chavalit Frederick Tsao, Chairman of the century-old business TPC (Tsao Pao Chee), who will discuss balancing economic growth with environmental protection in maritime trade. Mr Fabien Cousteau, famed aquanaut and environmental advocate, will deliver the keynote address, which will focus on the intersections between science, technology, and marine conservation.
In addition, Professor Lawrence Loh, Director of the Centre for Governance and Sustainability at NUS Business School, will lead a Sustainability Bootcamp that guides participants in efficiently adopting eco-conscious practices into their business operations. Charting the Future of Marine Conservation
TOCS will also be a dynamic platform for changemakers who are leading action and driving innovation within their sectors and communities. The summit will spotlight cutting-edge solutions at the Innovative Solutions Showcase, including pioneering developments in lithium-ion batteries and optimising nano-fibre technology and robotics for marine conservation.
At the Ocean Innovators Challenge, three aspiring young ecopreneurs will present their new circular economy solutions to vie for mentorship opportunities to help scale their sustainable ventures.
In addition, the summit will host thought-provoking panel discussions on the complexities of embedding sustainability, including trends in ecotourism, aquaculture, and blue financing solutions. By spotlighting best practices in the industry as well as the inspiring stories of ecopreneurs in and around the region, the summit aims to highlight the need to develop new strategies that address current challenges and drive long-term environmental and economic balance.
To cap off the summit, participants will engage in a collaborative action planning session, designed to empower the community to formulate actionable plans to drive meaningful marine conservation efforts within their organisations.
Mr Julian Chang, President of The International SeaKeepers Society Asia:
"This summit is about creating waves of change and forming a collective commitment towards protecting our oceans for future generations. By bringing together thought leaders from public, private, and non-government sectors to discuss tangible solutions for ocean conservation, we believe that TOCS 2024 will serve as a powerful catalyst for change."
