SeaKeepers Asia Joins the Fun at RSYC’s Commodore Day

Overview
SeaKeepers Asia was proud to participate in the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club's (RSYC) Commodore Day on 5th and 6th July 2025. Held at Singapore’s oldest yacht club, established in 1826, the two-day celebration was a vibrant mix of marine and water sports, lifestyle exhibitions, and family-friendly fun.
This year’s event featured a first for RSYC — the Recycled Regatta, an exciting eco-boat building challenge. Seven teams constructed innovative, seaworthy vessels using recycled and upcycled materials, racing around a short circuit for the fastest time and a grand prize. The event creatively showcased sustainability and innovation, resonating strongly with SeaKeepers Asia’s environmental mission.
SeaKeepers Asia hosted an outreach booth throughout the weekend to connect with the boating community and raise awareness about our ongoing Seabed 2030 Project—a global initiative that aims to map 100% of the ocean floor by the year 2030. Through partnerships with the General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans (GEBCO) and The Nippon Foundation, this ambitious effort relies heavily on contributions from private and commercial vessels equipped with data collection systems.
We engaged with vessel owners and marine enthusiasts, encouraging them to become Citizen Scientists by equipping their boats to gather bathymetric data during their voyages. We thank RSYC for hosting this dynamic event and look forward to future collaborations.
